The Brady Way

Whether you love him or hate him, you have to respect Tom Brady. At forty-three years of age, Brady has led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their second Super Bowl. The buccaneers will be the first NFL team ever to play in the Super Bowl on their home turf.
Although football is a team sport, Tom Brady has changed the course of this franchise in less than a calendar year. On March 20th, 2020, Brady announced that he was leaving the Patriots and heading to Tampa Bay. Similar to his entire career, many people did not believe Brady would have this kind of success with the buccaneers. However, this past Sunday, January 24, 2021, Tom Brady silenced the doubters and put every bit of criticism to rest. In the first half of Sunday’s NFC Championship game, Brady threw for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brady’s second touchdown throw, in the final seconds before the half, proved to be the deciding factor as the Buccaneers beat the Packers 31-26. Up until this season, Brady has never entered the playoffs on a Wild Card team. He is now on his way to his tenth Super Bowl appearance in twenty-one seasons. To put things in perspective, Brady has a 47.6% chance to make the Super Bowl each year. For the past several weeks, many people have doubted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Some believed they would not get by Drew Brees and the Saints’ top-ranked defense. Others thought Brady and the Bucs did not have enough to win at Lambeau Field and defeat, this year’s MVP, Aaron Rodgers.
And as the Buccaneers head into the two-week Super Bowl break, I am positive there will be more people who cannot see Brady beating Patrick Mahomes. You will hear things such as “the old goat versus the new goat”, “the Chiefs are just too young and fast”, “Brady has not even been playing that well”. But, in a season full of doubt, only one thing remains the same: never doubt Tom Brady.
